OMA
This little bistro in Barcelona has become famous amongst brunch lovers all over town. No doubt about why; it’s simply delicious!
OMA is named after the German grandmother of one of the owners. Being also the Dutch word for grandmother, I had this place on my wish list already just because of the name. It just sounds cosy; I’m gonna have brunch at grandma’s! However, don’t be fooled, the place is young, fashionable – yet down to earth – and bright. Nothing ‘old’ about that. The design is fresh and has a modern vintage look, not too hipster. The windows let the sunshine in, making it a bright yet cosy place for just a coffee, tea&cake or an amazing brunch!
I tried a sweet brunch with french toast and absolutely loved it. Sitting close to the counter my eye wandered off to the many good looking cakes and while enjoying my coffee I saw a lot of amazing food passing by…
The philosophy at OMA is down to earth food, simple but delicious and good quality. They explained to me that they only choose to work with the best products. And yes, whether it is the recipe or the quality of ingredients – probably the combination – you can tell and taste it has been selected and made with love. Add to that the owners come from a patisserie background and you can imagine how good the cakes will be here!
This time I resisted the cake, but the image of the red fruit cake with cream cheese topping has settled in my mind. I will surely be back soon, to try some!
